Biography
Amelia Patel advises boards, private-equity sponsors, and founders on mergers, takeovers, and carve-outs under the Companies Act 2015 and the Competition Act. She is the partner clients call when a transaction has a regulatory problem at CAK or the Capital Markets Authority.
She spent four years in the corporate group of a Magic Circle firm in London before returning to Nairobi. She is named in Chambers Global for Corporate/M&A (Kenya).
She sits on the LSK commercial-practice committee and writes on takeover regulation under the Capital Markets (Take-overs and Mergers) Regulations.
Representative matters
- Lead counsel to a public acquirer on a CMA-approved merger of two NSE-listed issuers.
- Advised a founder-controlled company in a successful defence of an unsolicited approach.
- Structured a cross-border carve-out of a regulated financial-services division, cleared by CAK.
