Biography
Nina Wekesa is the firm’s principal advocate in arbitration and labour. She has acted as counsel in NCIA, ICC, and UNCITRAL references seated in Nairobi, and sits as arbitrator in a smaller number of commercial cases.
Her employment docket includes unfair-dismissal claims, collective-bargaining disputes, and High Court appeals from the Employment and Labour Relations Court. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
She is on the NCIA panel and a vice-chair of the LSK alternative-dispute-resolution committee.
Representative matters
- Obtained an NCIA award for a Kenyan energy company in a dispute arising from a KETRACO-related EPC contract.
- Defended a bank in the ELRC; claim for unfair dismissal dismissed, costs to the employer.
- Enforced a foreign arbitral award in the High Court under the Arbitration Act 1995.
